John Rennie

Rennie To Be Inducted Into NSCAA Hall of Fame

John Rennie, former men’s coach at Duke University, and M. “Chick” Jacobus, the highly successful boys coach at Kingswood School of West Hartford, Conn., comprise the 2012 induction class to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s Hall of Fame.

The two will be inducted into the NSCAA’s Hall of Fame as part of the Association’s annual Awards Banquet, to be held Friday, January 13, in conjunction with the annual NSCAA Convention, which will run from January 11-15 in Kansas City, Mo.

Rennie, who was inducted into the North Carolina Soccer Hall of Fame in 2011, built Duke into a soccer powerhouse, winning the first NCAA national championship by any Blue Devil athletics squad in 1986. During his 36 seasons he compiled a career mark of 454-207-49, including a 410-161-35 record in his 29 seasons at Duke, the nation’s most successful program during that time frame.


Lee Horton Lady Eagles’ Lee Horton Inducted Into USL HOF

Lee Horton, the only head coach in the history of the Charlotte Lady Eagles, has been inducted into the United Soccer League’s Hall of Fame. With an overall record of 107 wins, 31 losses and 9 ties, Horton has guided the Charlotte W-Leagueteam to eight playoff appearances including a W-League championship (2001), two championship game defeats (2000 and 2002), as well as conference championships (2000, 2001, 2002, 2006).

Horton is a member of the North Carolina Soccer Hall of Fame (Class of 2007) and has been the head boys and girls soccer coach at Charlotte Latin School for more than 20 years, winning 11 NC State Championships during that time.


Bob Kepner Kepner Inducted Into USASA Hall of Fame

Durham’s Bob Kepner, a member of the North Carolina Soccer Hall of Fame (Class of 2004) was among five individuals selected by the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA), the governing body of amateur adult soccer in the U.S., for induction to the USASA Hall of Fame, Class of 2011. The honorees were inducted at the USASA Hall of Fame Ceremony Awards Dinner on Saturday, October 8th, during the USASA Midyear Meeting in Clearwater, Florida. Inductees were chosen on the basis of having made a significant contribution toward the development and advancement of adult amateur soccer at the national or regional level.

The Class of 2011, chosen by the USASA Hall of Fame Committee, includes: Dick Burns, Brandi Chastain, Casey Frankewicz, Hector Nava and Kepner.
