Doug
Hamilton, a native of Hazlet, NJ, was an All-America defender
on two NCAA Division III national championship teams at
UNC Greensboro. He was the head men's coach at Greensboro
College, posting a four-year record of 59-24-4 and leading
his team to the NCAA D-III championship game in 1989. He
rose through the corporate ranks with adidas during a six-year
career that took him to positions as national Business Unit
Manager of soccer and basketball in the U.S. and Director
of Sports Marketing For Latin America. He was the General
Manager of the Miami Fusion of Major League Soccer for two
years. He was President and General Manager of the Los Angles
Galaxy for four, during which he was the MLS Executive of
the Year for three consecutive years. He died in March,
2006 at age 43, and was inducted into the HOF posthumously.
