William T. “Bill” Holleman, Class of 2000

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has announced that William T. “Bill” Holleman, a longtime high school coach and administrator in both North Carolina and Georgia, has been elected to the NSCAA Hall of Fame as the single honoree in the Class of 2017. He was inducted on Friday, January 13, at the Association’s annual Awards Banquet in conjunction with the NSCAA Convention in Los Angeles.

Anson Dorrance, Class of 2002

In his 38th year of coaching, Anson earned his 800th victory in a come-from-behind victory at UNC’s Fetzer Field over Wake Forest University on October 10, 2016. He is the first women’s or men’s soccer coach in NCAA history to achieve the distinction of 800 victories.

On Saturday, February 27, 2016, Anson was presented with U.S. Soccer’s highest honor, the Werner Fricker Builder Award, at a dinner in San Antonio, TX, during the 2016 USSF Annual General Meeting. The award is given to an individual or group of individuals who have dedicated at least 20 years of service to the sport, working to establish a lasting legacy in the history and structure of soccer in the United States. The award recognizes those who have developed programs that will outlast their own involvement in the sport.
