Coached boys soccer at Ben Lippen School in Asheville for 20 seasons with a 256-34-20 record. Began coaching at Ben Lippen in 1960 when few schools in N.C. sponsored scholastic soccer. Falcons put together a 76-game streak without a loss, including 65 consecutive wins. Team won three North Carolina Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association state championships and runnerup once. Was named N.C. state boys soccer Coach of the Year in 1976 after his team went 21-0-0, scoring 114 goals and allowing only eight in a state championship season. Helped develop the Western N.C. Soccer Officials Association.
